Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women is to be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
We have several unique circles of women who would love for you to visit. Below is information about each group. Please contact the circle chairpersons directly or our UMW President, Te Messerle, 704.537.0483.
DORCAS - Chairperson: Janice Johnson, 704.365.4564
Meets the second Monday of the month from 7:00pm-9:00pm in homes and occasionally in their favorite restaurant, Charleys. The women of Dorcas are of all ages and enjoy traditional, as well as, contemporary programs. A fun loving group with a great big heart!
ELISABETH - Chairperson: Joanne Efird, 704.333.9367
Meets the first Monday of the month from 11:00am-12:30pm in the Gathering Place at the church (Sunday School classroom on second floor.) They enjoy the fellowship of a small group setting and embrace learning through traditional programs.
LYDIA - Chairpersons: Inez Kilby, 704.525.0694 and Peggy Duncan, 704.364.1317
Meets the second Tuesday of the month. Primarily older adults that enjoy traditional programs, energetic dialogue and lots of fellowship and laughter! They can best be described as the “lively, lovely, fun-loving Lydians.”
MARTHA - Chairperson: Betty Jeanne Gray, 704.849.9544
Meets the second Monday of the month from 1:30pm-3:30pm in homes with occasional lunch meetings in selected restaurants. Mostly retirees, the women of Martha are dedicated to service. A generous, active and congenial group, they’re always looking for new members to welcome into the fold.
MAGDARUTH - Chairperson: Linda Newcomb, 704.362.0552
Meets the second Saturday of the month from 10:00am-12:00pm in homes, the church or on an occasional field trip. A light covered-dish brunch is typically shared and childcare is provided. This active, intergenerational group enjoys combining traditional aspects of UMW with new ideas.
ALDERSGATE - Chairperson: Dori Fuller
Meeting of residents at Aldersgate Retirement Community meet the second Tuesday of the month at 10:30am in the Skylight Room .
